What started more than 30 years ago, as a side business that James Aspesi ran out of the back of his truck, has grown into a highly-respected corporation and a leader among full-service landscape design and construction companies in northeastern Massachusetts.

The humble beginnings of Essex County Landscape Associates began in 1980, when James Aspesi, then a machinist for Cape Ann Tool Company, began operating a lawn mowing business on the side after his daily job. James steadily developed a growing and satisfied customer base, until he could no longer manage the business as part time. From there, Jim's Landscaping was established in 1980, serving the North Shore area for decades.

In 1996, Jim's son, James (J.D.) Aspesi, began to take on a more integral role within the company. J.D. Aspesi earned an Associates degree in Turfgrass Management from the Essex Agricultural & Technical Institute, as well as an Associates degree in Golf Management in 2000 from the Golf Academy of the South (formerly known as the San Diego Golf Academy) in Orlando, Florida.  With J.D.'s breadth of experience, the company has expanded its services to all areas of the landscape industry..

After many years and a long roster of clients serviced by Jim's Landscaping, the company's name was officially changed to Essex County Landscape Associates, LLC in 2007. With J.D. Aspesi as President, the company has grown to new heights and has become a highly successful business. Jim Aspesi is still very much involved in the day-to-day operations, and oversees all aspects of equipment maintenance and repair.
