The story of Essex County Landscape Associates (ECLA) traces back to 1980 when James Aspesi—a machinist at Cape Ann Tool Company—launched a lawn mowing business from the back of his truck. Driven by a passion for quality service and a growing customer base, James soon transitioned his side business into a full-time operation, founding Jim’s Landscaping, which served the North Shore community for decades with dedication and excellence.

In 1996, James’s son, James (J.D.) Aspesi, joined the company and quickly became a key contributor to its growth. J.D. earned an Associate’s degree in Turfgrass Management from Essex Agricultural & Technical Institute and an Associate’s degree in Golf Management from the Golf Academy of the South in Orlando, Florida. With his expertise, the company expanded its capabilities to offer a comprehensive range of landscape & snow services.

By 2007, reflecting the company’s evolution and broader service offerings, Jim’s Landscaping was rebranded as Essex County Landscape Associates, LLC. Under the leadership of J.D. Aspesi as President, ECLA has reached new heights, establishing a reputation for professionalism, innovation, and superior craftsmanship.

Today, James Aspesi Sr. remains actively involved, overseeing equipment maintenance and operations—a testament to the family’s enduring commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
